March Newsletter

Happy March!

February has been fantastic for A Place at the Table. We are thankful for your continual thoughts and prayers for our building, our team, and our fundraising.

As many of you can see, the construction on our building has not changed much. There have been some problems with the contractor on the project. Things have been resolved so as March is beginning, so will the construction. We are looking forward to seeing some growth by April.

The problems with construction have been a blessing in disguise for us. We feel terrible for developer and for the whole team that has been fighting to get it finished, but for us we know we still need more time to fundraise. We want to be transparent and completely open with our supporters and donors thus far. To date, we have raised $55,000. We are again incredibly thankful for you all who have invested in us and gotten us to this point. We are amazed at how the community has come together to bring us this far to our final goal. Unfortunately, we need $350,000.

Why $350,000? We are in a new build, which means we are building from the ground up. We will have a vanilla shell for all you construction lingo people out there. We have budgeted for the construction itself, tools and labor to do that, equipment for the brand new kitchen (most will be donated, but there are items that cannot be donated in new kitchens), and then a year of working capital for us to sign our lease.

Then why this location? Being on Hillsborough St. right next to campus is important to us. We want to be a place for students and staff, the Hillsborough community, and anyone who can come in on foot or bus from downtown. We also have a great relationship with the developer of the building who has already brought our cost down.

What will you do to raise the money?
In April we will be launching a sustainer campaign. This means that we hope you will consider becoming sustainers in APATT moving forward.

How can I help?

  • Please consider becoming a monthly sustainer with us by filling out a Pledge Form.
  • Donate now
  • Share this letter with a friend

Having your support means the world to us and will allow us to open our doors. It will enable us to sit at the table with you and with an unknown neighbor, share a meal together, and know that we all are welcome. Please mindfully and prayerfully consider whether this is something you, your family, or friends can do. Thank you in advance.

We have many events coming up, so please take a look below and come to all! We cannot wait to see you at our first pop-up, our volunteer training, and our concert. Do not hesitate to reach out with questions. As much as you support us, we are here to support you!
