Today, three days after the distressing and shocking Orlando shooting, I sit at my computer unable to write our monthly newsletter. I wish I could say I have the answers to all the horrifying events in the world, and that it’s going to be okay.
But I can’t do that.
I can only share the poem that has brought me the slightest peace these since Saturday.
May I live this day
compassionate of heart,
clear in word,
gracious in awareness,
courageous in thought,
generous in love.
As we get closer and closer to securing our location (stay tuned!), I promise you that we’ll do everything in my power to make A Place at the Table a place of compassion, clear in word, gracious in awareness, courageous in thought, and generous in love.
We are and will be a place for you, your neighbor, and your neighbor’s neighbor.
I challenge us to take O’Donohue’s message to heart – be generous in love today, tomorrow, and everyday.
Peace and warm hugs,
P.S. Join us for dinner on June 23 at b.good in North Hills to raise rent money for our location! b.good is generously donating 15% of the night’s proceeds toward our work. Check out the Facebook event for more info.
