#FeatureFriday: Oak City Outreach Center

Fullscreen-capture-3242014-85731-PM-399x330On Saturdays and Sundays in downtown Raleigh, the Oak City Outreach Center serves meals to those experiencing homelessness or in need of food assistance. Oak City Outreach Center is a part of The Raleigh/Wake Partnership to End and Prevent Homelessness, and is located on South Person street near Moore Square. The center is able to serve meals every weekend to those in need thanks to local churches and organizations that provide food and volunteers. In the first year of operation, the center was able to serve nearly 68,000 meals to people in the Raleigh/Wake community.

IMG_3146On Sunday, April 24th, some of the APATT folks were able to spend a day volunteering at Oak City Outreach. We saw first hand how the center operates, and did many different activities, including cleaning up, assisting guests with their food, greeting and talking with guests, and anything else that needed to be done. Our team had a great day, and we cannot wait to be back on June 4th for our day to serve a meal at Oak City Outreach!
