For all of you avid blog readers (thank you) who think you have read this post before, you are right. We are reposting our post from a few months ago on Oak City Outreach Center. Why are we doing this?
Our June pop-up is TOMORROW at Oak City Outreach Center and we could not be more excited. We are thrilled to meet some new friends who will both dine with us and volunteer with us when we open our doors. We are extra jazzed to serve this meal with Steve Goff! He will be cooking up an incredible meal to all of our soon-to-be new friends at Oak City Outreach Center. Stay tuned next week for the recap of our pop-up, and read below for more information on our nonprofit partner, Oak City Outreach Center.
On Saturdays and Sundays in downtown Raleigh, the Oak City Outreach Center serves meals to those experiencing homelessness or in need of food assistance. Oak City Outreach Center is a part of The Raleigh/Wake Partnership to End and Prevent Homelessness, and is located on South Person street near Moore Square. The center is able to serve meals every weekend to those in need thanks to local churches and organizations that provide food and volunteers. In the first year of operation, the center was able to serve nearly 68,000 meals to people in the Raleigh/Wake community.
On Sunday, April 24th, some of the APATT folks were able to spend a day volunteering at Oak City Outreach. We saw first hand how the center operates, and did many different activities, including cleaning up, assisting guests with their food, greeting and talking with guests, and anything else that needed to be done. Our team had a great day, and we cannot wait to be back on June 4th for our day to serve a meal at Oak City Outreach!
